Seduction Pavilion

  • Project Name: Seduction Pavilion
  • Site: Fondazione fashion research Italy, Bologna
  • USP of the project: The 2D imagery of the Woman and the hour-glass are extrapolated three-dimensionally through rays of embroidered laces

THE TIMELESS STORY OF SEDUCTION

The story of seduction is best told through The Woman, intertwined in time. Our muse is a Starlet who travelled through several emotions, tethered by threads of hope to be a Star someday. The installation is an avatar of this Woman, who is soft like the lacework forming it and sensual like the curves shaping it. It creates a titillating curvaceous volume in which the Visitor navigates through her desires and emotions.

The emotion of seduction is timeless; it happened before, it is happening now and will continue to happen with the Woman in similar fashion over the years to come. The timelessness of seduction is epitomized by animating the Starlets in modern way. The transition from past is done by adding colourand elements presenting them in current context of fashion and technology.

Material

  • Slender curving acrylic rods propping up from floor form the Woman, they are kept at regular distance to create a transitory imagery, which alters as the Visitor moves in and around.
  • The rods in colour of red wine stand amongst peachy embroidery, depicting the confidence of the Starlets.
  • A point of fiber-optic light at end of each rod marks the figure of the Woman in space and in the fragmented mirror ceiling above.
  • The floor is Vinyl surface installed on sprung-floor system. The area marking hour-glass is hi-shine Golden colour with hi-shine Black marking The Woman.
  • The Woman and the hour-glass are intertwined by rays of lacework and embroidery emanating three-dimensionally. The laces are intricatelymade in vintage designs, tied in tension. The colours are shades of white, pink and peach.
  • The Starlets are displayed on digital media showing the time-transition animation which can be controlled by the Visitor.
  • The light falling through the installation creates shadow patterns on the floor of viewing gallery.

The Form

The 2D imagery of the Woman and the hour-glass are extrapolated three-dimensionally through rays of embroidered laces. One parabolic volume is visited at the beginning of the Walk, the other one comes near the entry to the Woman. The architectural form of the Woman rises angularly as Visitor walks into it.Slender curving acrylic rods prop from floor forming the Woman, they create a transitory imagery, which alters as the Visitor moves in and around. The Visitor walks through it after watching the Starlets, reflecting upon their timeless story of beauty and seduction.

The whole experience is a time-travel story of beautiful Starlets using their seductive powers to gain Fame. Seduction is an Art for these timeless beauties. The story rotates like the Totem, which is in perpetual motion, filling and refilling the Woman inside it. The animated imagery, motion, music and fragrance create complete sensual ambience requisite to the purpose.

The emotion of seduction is free from parameter of time ;the Totem entraps a woman figure in endless pendulum motion of an hour-glass. The wine coloured sand fills the figure of the Woman and rotates it for another cycle. This slow moving dance pays tribute to the nameless Starlets.
